Virginia Flynn and Robert Hull, Monmouth County Libertarian Party candidates for Freeholder, have pledged not to raise taxes and to serve no more than two consecutive terms if they win this year's race. Their pledge to serve no more than two consecutive terms is aimed at Republican incumbents Harry Larrison, Jr., who has been in office since 1966 and Thomas J. Powers who was first elected a freeholder in 1981. "We've had three presidents since then," Hull said. Of Larrison, he added. "That means some of the voters this November will not even have been born when he first took office." Hull and Flynn have largely built a campaign on the right to bear arms. Incumbents Larrison and Powers have supported "Guns for Cash", a buy-back program to take firearms off the streets. "We need a new voice on the board," Hull said, "speaking for a reduction in our taxes and a cut in the size of county government. The Democrats can't deliver. We can."
