A phrase you've heard many times before...
Republicans and Democrats like this phrase, it sounds good, it makes them appealing to the voters. But when they are elected what do you get? The exact opposite! Since the 1930's the Democrats along with their cohorts the Republicans have managed to create a bloated, intrusive, bordering on oppressive government from the Federal level down. Government extorts over 50% of the average citizens earnings in direct or indirect taxes. It wastes countless hours of citizens' time dealing with mindless bureaucracies , from applying for permission to have a pet, to filing the forms necessary to pay Federal income taxes. Government has become self indulgent and self serving. Originally created to serve the people, people now serve the government. Who is to blame for this? Democrats and Republicans.
A good indicator of the size difference in government is to compare the amount of money it consumes. Like a black hole which increases its gravity as more matter is consumed, thereby consuming even more matter. Monmouth County now consumes over $315 million dollars, that's over $1500.00 per household. The previous year's amount was $308 million, government has gotten bigger. Where does this end? It doesn't, until people are elected that will actually DO what they campaign on.
The Monmouth
County Finance Department has proclaimed Monmouth County's credit
rating to be "Triple A". Translated this means Monmouth County is considered
a good credit risk due to a large amount of collected revenue, aka tax
money.
This also means that Monmouth County can get a lower interest rate
the next time the Freeholders decide to float another bond to build another
golf course.
If you believe Monmouth County has gotten too big, voice your opinion
