Libertarian to raise issues
The Gannett New Jersey Poll on the 2000 U.S. Senate
race was interesting as much for what it didn't' t show as for what it
revealed.
It seems media attention, both the purchased kind
and that given freely, has done little to boost the candidacy of Jon Corzine,
who languishes at 6 percent among the Democrats. He may be learning
the first rule of marketing:
No matter how clever your pitch, or how much you spend on pushing
your product, if the public doesn't want it, they're not going to buy it.
It appears Republican Steve Forbes is learning the same thing.
What is missing is any recognition that no matter
who the Democrats and Republicans select, it will be a three-way race.
Emerson Ellett of Ocean Township won the Libertarian Party nomination for
Senate Nov. 13. While Murray Sabrin alternates between the labels
of "real Republican" and "true conservative," Ellett will offer us an authentic
libertarian alternative.
So while Sabrin takes swipes at Paul Robeson, we
can count on Ellett to raise real issues such as stopping the failed war
on drugs, which is really a war on our constitutional rights; bringing
home American troops and defending our right to bear arms.
